Sanquhar Castle

The castle was built by the Crichton family in the 13th century in Sanquhar, Dumfries and Galloway. It sits on the trail of the Southern Upland Way.  It was visited by many notable figures including Robert the Bruce, William Wallace, Edward I, Mary, Queen of Scots, and James VI.

The castle ruins are reportedly haunted by the ghost of Marion Dalpeddar, who was rumored to be murdered by one of the Crichtons in 1590.
